Dr Nobuntu Nkumanda completed her BCom in Accounting with the University of Transkei (UNITRA), now known as the Walter Sisulu University (WSU), in 1998 having majored in Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting and Finance. She then went on to do a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the same University in 2004, and it was during that time that her passion for children grew, and she later went on to do a Masters in Paediatrics in 2013.

She has extensive experience in neonatal care, acute emergencies in Paediatrics, as well as management of chronic conditions in children. She has worked in major hospitals in Mthatha, Witbank, Pretoria and Johannesburg both in the public and private sector.

Her business acumen has been pivotal in the management of her private practice that she has successfully run since 2014 working closely with the Life Health Care Group and now Crestcare, and the different medical aid schemes, for the soul purpose of achieving better health for all. This being said, the children that she so enjoys taking care of reflect a purpose that goes far beyond individuality – a purpose of taking part in public health, by promoting health and reducing health disparities. The future for Dr Nobuntu Nkumanda lies in influencing the factors that shape the way we approach the health of not only the children but their mothers, families and their communities.
