About Me
Dr Yamkela Desemela is a Subspecialist Hepatobiliary and Upper GI Surgeon.
He completed his undergraduate MBChB and Master of Medicine at Walter Sisulu University, and subspecialised in Hepatobiliary Surgery through the University of the Witwatersrand.
Dr Desemela has a particular interest in minimal access surgery, general surgery, and malignant conditions of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and upper gastrointestinal tract.
Born and raised in Mthatha, Dr Desemela’s vision is to contribute specialist medical and surgical expertise to his hometown and to support the continued improvement of the local healthcare system.
